Ranju Raman

I offer the opportunity to cultivate a yoga practice that helps you reconnect with yourself. My teaching is rooted in devotion and love for the natural world, with an emphasis on discipline, connection with the breath, and repetition as foundations for sadhana/practice.

With roots in India, I began practicing yoga as a way to heal my body. Over the past two years, it has helped me bring my life into greater alignment and become more attentive to myself. My journey began with Vipassana meditation under Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu, followed by studies at Arya Marga Yoga Institute in Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Yoga Psychology, and Somatics. I aspire to live in alignment with the eight limbs of yoga, allowing the practice to guide how I care for myself, care for community, and move through the world.

One of my teachers shares that "If we wish to live in peace and happiness, we should work to spread peace and happiness in the world around us." Yoga offers me a set of tools to cultivate both, and I share these practices in the hope that they may support you too.

After a year of teaching weekly classes and residential retreats at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, I am grateful to join the community at Yoga Circle and share practices rooted in the lineage which I have received. I invite students to slow down, listen to their bodies, and develop an attentive relationship with themselves, on the mat and in everyday life.
